Why not ask Acer to preinstall Linux on your laptop instead of Windows?

With a large enough hard drive and jumping through some hoops, you can even "dual boot" both Linux and Windows from the hard drive.

The devil is in the details, of course, but most Linux distributions have support for booting from USB.

A question that I would put to Acer is whether you can boot from a USB 3.0 port.

If not, then the USB flash drive is probably not be formatted as a bootable drive.

I would recommend you try booting the flash drive on a different computer to verify that it is working. At this point, I have to assume the USB controller (chip) is bad. Did you create the USB recovery disk on the Acer v5-573 itself? If you post the exact error message that you are getting, maybe someone will recognize the problem and offer a solution.Regards, Brian Hi Gaurav Sharma, Why can't you boot using the USB drive? If you choose not to install Windows on the hard drive, then you can install one of the many Linux distributions on the hard drive instead. However, this means that you have to follow the instructions for installing Ubuntu, for instance, and that could take some time when your new laptop arrives.Apparently, the right side of the laptop has the USB 2.0 ports.
